Michelle Mone, the creator of the UK’s leading lingerie brand Ultimo, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker at the Manchester Evening News Breakfast to be held on the first day of Business North West (Manchester Central, 28th and 29th October). Kell Ryan, founding member of Ryanair, will address the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce sponsored breakfast on the second day.
As well as creator of Ultimo, Michelle Mone is the co-owner of MJM International and is listed as one of the top three female entrepreneurs in the UK. This year Ultimo became the first UK lingerie brand to debut on the catwalk at New York Fashion Week and opened 20 ‘shop in shops’ within Debenhams in key cities throughout the UK. The company also landed a major deal with Tesco to develop, design and manufacture ‘Diamond Boutique’ lingerie.
Kell Ryan, founding member of Ryanair, will give the inside story on how Ryanair became Europe’s largest low-cost carrier. He will talk about how the company grew from a small cash strapped Irish airline carrying 5,000 passengers in its first year of trading (1985) to transporting 58 million passengers in 2008. Kell has over 40 years extensive airline experience including operations, customer service training, marketing, sales, public relations and media communications.
Talking about the keynote speakers, Scott Hider, Managing Director at Nationwide Media Group said; “Our keynote speakers have been very popular in previous years and we know that this year’s line-up will be just as well received. Michelle Mone and Kell Ryan have years of business experience and will deliver seminars of great relevance to SMEs wanting to thrive in the current economic environment.
“Michelle is a great motivational and inspirational speaker who is straight talking and will give a genuine down to earth personal account of how she built up her company. Michelle will be a familiar face to many, having been a regular panelist on The Apprentice: You’re Fired.
“On the second day Kell will pass on his knowledge, enthusiasm and love of aviation and tourism and will give an insight into Ryanair’s success on changing aviation in Europe. The discussion on how it managed change, company culture, leadership, innovation, motivation and costs will be relevant for any business.”
