Andrea Winders and Tina Dutton, Founders of Pink Ladies
Biography
Pink Ladies is a members club for women, and provides uniformed female drivers, to drive the members clubs’ vehicles. They have created a highly successful formula with the slogan; ‘Feel safe – be safe’ The women only cab service.
Andrea Winders
A sales professional for 18 years, but never quite knowing “what she wanted to be when she grew up”, Andrea always knew that she would one day have her own company – having sold pharmaceuticals, and office supplies in the past, it was quite unexpected that Pink Ladies would be the end result.
Formerly a horse owner, and keen rider, Andrea plans to take up the gauntlet again in 2009, when she is going to ride in Rajasthan to raise money for BHS, as a reward for the 12-16 hour days that have been a typical working day for the past few years.
Competitive by nature and a driven target setter, the diversity of Pink Ladies, and the nature of the challenges has suited her personality, removing the possibility of boredom ever setting in.
Past awards include North West Business Insiders 42-under-42 award for Innovation 2006; Account Manager of the year 2003; and more bizarrely one of BBC’s Beat the Boss Winners in 2006 and winner of a “Date My Mum” programme on MTV in 2006.
Tina Dutton
Formerly in the beauty business, Tina had a serious back operation in 2004, which meant her taking a step back in career.
Meeting Andrea was the catalyst (or catapult!) that took her back into the business market, and sparked the idea for Pink Ladies…and her back hasn’t had time to twinge since!
Proudest moments in business have been collecting the Regional Business Award prize for Innovation in 2006, being invited to Women of the Year 2006, and then finally to Buckingham Palace for Christmas drinks (and meeting the Queen)
